Being Able to Sell Bullshit as Gold....
Yeltsin, ignoring the Russian people suffering in bread lines, announced that the 'radical reforms' would continue.
Yet even his own deputy Rutskoy described this reform program as 'economic genocide.'
Yeltsin Bombards the Parliament
When the economy collapsed and millions lost their jobs, a political movement against Yeltsin began. Two factions formed in Parliament. Those opposing Yeltsin repeatedly submitted motions attempting to remove him from office.
On September 21, 1993, Yeltsin appeared on television and addressed the nation.
He announced the closure of Parliament. Until new elections, he would govern the country with special powers.
The exemplary democrat praised by the USA, Yeltsin, unable to tolerate opposition, announced the closure of Parliament. The very next day, the Russian Parliament convened, removed Yeltsin from office, and appointed his deputy in his place. Everything had spiraled out of control.
Russia plunged into a very dangerous political crisis. Tens of thousands of Muscovites took to the streets. Squares echoed with anti-Yeltsin slogans. The Russian people were defending their Parliament.
With the support of the army and security forces, on October 4, 1993, Yeltsin ordered artillery fire on the Russian Parliament building known as the White House. Television stations worldwide broadcast the shelling of the Russian Parliament live.
US President Bill Clinton declared that he saw Yeltsin's action as a defense of democracy and supported the democratic Yeltsin.
The Privatization Plunder
In December 1994, Yeltsin launched a military attack and occupied Chechnya. He attempted to establish an autonomous republic under Moscow's control.
However, faced with strong Chechen resistance, he was forced to retreat and lost power domestically.
By 1995, Russia, having surrendered to the IMF, had greatly increased foreign debt. To both repay these debts and gain the support of newly emerged businessmen for the 1996 presidential elections, Yeltsin initiated a new wave of privatization plunder. He sold shares of Russia's largest factories and enterprises to newly formed Russian banks for cash at rock-bottom prices. Those who acquired these shares, known as oligarchs and mostly of Jewish origin, became owners of national media and banks.
Yeltsin Wants to Become President for a Second Time
Now comes the story of Boris Yeltsin's election as president for a second time.
Yeltsin, an alcoholic, suffered two heart attacks in 1995.
In the parliamentary elections held on December 17, 1995, Yeltsin's supporters suffered an unexpected heavy defeat. The 'Our Home Russia Party,' indirectly supported by Yeltsin, received only 12.2% of the votes, while the 'Communist Party of the Russian Federation' led by Gennady Zyuganov received 34.9%, emerging as the first party. Everyone now firmly believed that Zyuganov would win the presidential election scheduled for June 1996.
In February 1996, Boris Yeltsin announced he would run in the June 1996 presidential elections. He wanted to serve another term.
Yeltsin faced two strong candidates:
The Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov and General Aleksandr Lebed
Immediately after Yeltsin announced his candidacy, public opinion polls showed the following picture:
Gennady Zyuganov: 50-55%
General Lebed: 30-35%
President Yeltsin: 2-8%
The public no longer wanted Yeltsin, who had surrendered the economy to the IMF, allowed Russia's underground and surface wealth to be plundered under the guise of privatization, and caused unemployment and hunger among the people. His alcoholism, serious health problems, and unstable behavior further diminished his reputation. Seeing the bleak picture from the polls, Yeltsin's supporters panicked. The oligarchs who had made billions from the privatization plunder were the most afraid. These individuals gathered and pressured Yeltsin to cancel the presidential elections. They openly said, 'There is no need for elections; govern the country as a dictator!' All of these people were Russia's new democratic stars supported and praised by the USA.
Yeltsin did not heed this advice. He changed the team running his election campaign. He put his daughter Tatyana and the architect of the privatization plunder, Chubais, in charge.
Chubais immediately got to work. He formed a core team of bankers and media owners. The media owners would continuously conduct pro-Yeltsin propaganda, and the bankers would funnel money into the election campaign. In return, Chubais would hand over Russia's most valuable institutions and organizations to these people under the guise of privatization.
The "People Who Can Sell Bullshit as Gold" The rule for the presidential election to be held in Moscow was this: The candidate who received more than 50% of the votes in the first round would win and become president.
If no candidate received 50% in the first round, a second election would be held within a month, and the candidate with the most votes would win.
The date for the Russian presidential election was announced as June 16, 1996. The election campaign began. The entire Russian media conducted pro-Yeltsin propaganda, and other candidates were not given opportunities to speak on television. Despite this, polls still showed Yeltsin far behind Zyuganov and Lebed.
Yeltsin's daughter Tatyana and her partner Chubais, who were running the campaign, had to quickly find a solution. And they did.
Through Russian businessmen of Jewish origin who had made billions from the privatization plunder, they requested help from the USA. Frankly, they expected Americans to come to Russia and secure the presidential election for them!
The American administration announced it was ready to immediately send three highly knowledgeable and experienced political expert advisors to Moscow.
The three American political expert advisors—George Gorton, Dick Dresner, and Joe Shumate—hurried to Moscow and immediately started working.
So, what were these three advisors experts in?
They were experts in directing election campaigns. To put it in American terms, they were talented enough to "sell bullshit as gold." Now, they would make the Russian people believe Yeltsin was an "unparalleled democratic leader."
The first recommendations of the three American experts were: The media would constantly fabricate false news and smear Yeltsin's opponents!
The Russians objected to this proposal. There would be no lies, no mudslinging; they would adhere to the principle of honesty. The Americans' response was striking:
If you want to win the election, you will act as we say; you cannot win an election honestly!
The three American political experts made their second recommendation:
Yeltsin would mingle with the people, hug and kiss them, participate in entertainment programs organized for the youth, sing and dance with them—in short, play the role of a "very affectionate, very cuddly" person! The Russians were not enthusiastic about this either.
They preferred Yeltsin to behave naturally and did not want him to act a role.
The American experts responded harshly again: Without acting, without deceiving the people, you cannot win the election!
Yeltsin's election campaign was almost at a dead end when the dollar billionaires and media owners who had a share in bringing the three American experts from the USA intervened. After heated discussions, the recommendations of the three American experts were accepted. From now on, the reins of Yeltsin's election campaign were in the hands of these three Americans.
The First Phase of the Election
The three American experts, talented enough to "sell bullshit as gold," determined where Yeltsin would speak, who he would meet, and produced slogans for the media to use.
The Russian media fabricated baseless rumors, lies, and slanders about Yeltsin's opponents, confusing even the most rational minds.
Yeltsin's opponents Zyuganov and Lebed were bewildered by this smear campaign and struggled to find even a single television channel or newspaper to defend themselves and make their voices heard.
In this atmosphere, the presidential elections were held on June 16, 1996.
The turnout was 70%, and the results were as follows:
Yeltsin (35.3%), Zyuganov (32%), Lebed (14.5%).
No president was elected in the first round, but this result was a huge success for Yeltsin. A few months earlier, his public support was around 5%, but as if by magic, it had risen to 35%! Yeltsin's campaign team was ecstatic. The three American experts, however, remained calm, saying the real battle was just beginning.
The Second Phase of the Election
The three American experts immediately rolled up their sleeves. They had successfully passed halfway, but now they had to deliver the decisive blow.
They urgently proposed to Yeltsin: Make an offer to Lebed that he cannot refuse, who received 14.5% in the first round, and prevent him from participating in the second round!
Two days after the first round, on June 18, 1996, President Yeltsin implemented the three American experts' proposal.
He appointed Lebed as "Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation" and "President's National Security Advisor." Lebed, beaming with joy, immediately accepted this prestigious appointment and announced his withdrawal from the second round of the presidential election.
(MORALITY COULD NOT COME INTO PLAY HERE – HE SOLD OUT, BUT WHAT, AND HOW MUCH?)
With Lebed's withdrawal, the field was left to Yeltsin and Zyuganov.
The three American experts immediately began a campaign to discredit Zyuganov.
The entire media repeated the following slogans almost all day, every day:
"Votes for Zyuganov will bring the Communists back to power!",
"Choosing Zyuganov means resurrecting the dictator Stalin!",
"Votes for Zyuganov will mean the end of democracy and freedoms!",
"If the communist Zyuganov is elected, civil war will break out in Russia!",
"If you want to be a property owner, a business owner, vote for the democratic Yeltsin!",
"Choose President Yeltsin, respected by the USA and Europe!".
While the media continued this one-sided propaganda, millions of dollars from the pool of Russian businessmen who had plundered privatization were distributed to groups in regions identified by the three American experts. At the same time, the IMF announced it had granted Russia a $10 billion loan. Those running Yeltsin's campaign were overjoyed.
The three American experts made one more proposal to Yeltsin:
Immediately pay the nearly two-year overdue pensions and accumulated workers' wages!
The payments were made immediately.
Television channels repeatedly showed elderly people receiving their back pensions and workers receiving their wages, hugging Yeltsin and crying, kissing his hands and face.
A week before the second round of the election, Yeltsin suffered another heart attack.
Following the guidance of the three American experts, the media announced to the public that Yeltsin had caught the flu due to extreme fatigue.
No one was allowed near Yeltsin, no photographs were taken, no images released. After skillfully overcoming this setback, the second round of the presidential election was held on July 3, 1996. With a 68.9% turnout, the two candidates received the following votes:
Yeltsin (53.8%), Zyuganov (40.3%).
The three American experts specially brought from the USA, with the support of the media and privatization plunderers, had succeeded in "selling bullshit as gold" to the Russian people. Boris Yeltsin was elected president of Russia for a second time.
After being elected president for the second time, Yeltsin took a $40 billion loan from the IMF. However, this money did not enter the state's treasury! Yeltsin's daughter Tatyana and the privatization plunderers supporting Yeltsin in the elections deposited it into their bank accounts in America and Europe!
This true story formed the script of a film made in America in 2002. The film's title was: "Spinning Boris." We can translate it as: "The Deception of the Russian People by Boris Yeltsin."
THIS IS WHY IT'S TIME TO THINK..
THINKING IS NOT ILLEGAL YET!
